While studying art history in graduate school, I fell in love with printmaking. To me, it felt like I had discovered a new world – one of bold textures, rich surfaces, and infinite possibilities. There’s something magical about the messy inks, the cranking and clanking of the press, and the thrill you feel when you peel back the paper from your inked plate for the first time.
The various local and regional artists in this group exhibit have reminded me of this love of process and are masters at what they do. I hope their work inspires you as much as it has inspired me, and that it gives you a glimpse into the world of printmaking.
Participating artists include Tim Barrera, Arisa Bunanan, Sohyung Choi, Linda Clark Johnson, Deziree Dizon, Aster Foley, Vanesa Gingold, Joanna Kidd, Stephanie Kocsik, Doug Lawler, Dixie Laws, Laura Morton, Julia Rigby, Rebecca Rippon, Stephanie Scott, Jan Schnurr, Marti Schoen, Susan Silvester, Kristian Talley, Katherine Venturelli, and Dorothy Yuki.
